In 2016, the mythical Lagavulin distillery of Islay celebrates its 200th anniversary and has launched the Lagavulin 8 Years Old. This exceptional Single Malt has been produced from a selection of high quality casks.
Georgie Crawford, Lagavulin Master Distiller, chose to feature a bit of Lagavulin’s history with Alfred Barnard, English historian and first whisky specialist and journalist at the end of the 1880. He is said to have considered Lagavulin as “one of the few distilleries able to produce quality Single Malt”. When he discovered the distillery, he described an 8 year-old Lagavulin as “exceptionnally fine”.
200 years later Lagavulin 8 Years Old offers the same characteristics that captured Alfred Barnard’s mind: a refined 48° ABV Single Malt, with a light texture infused with a smoky sweetness and an incredible blend of peppermint and dark chocolate.
