It is matured for 10 years in a mix of recharred American oak and refill bourbon American oak casks giving sweet vanilla background notes that complements the soft peat style of Loch Lomond’s unique still set up.
For centuries, the mainland inhabitants of Luss, on the west side of Loch Lomond, used Inchmoan island as their source of peat fuel for the village fires. Hence its name ‘Inch-moan’: the island of the peat in gaelic.
